Deep tissue Laser Therapy

Glover Road Chiropractic is one of the first clinics in the Lower Mainland to offer the Class IV LiteCure laser therapy.
What is Laser Therapy?
Laser therapy is a non-invasive technique that helps reduce pain and inflammation. This modality uses light energy to stimulate cellular activity that accelerates the body's own natural healing process (called photo-bio-modulation).
Why is this laser so effective?
The LiteCure laser is new technology. It is a powerful class IV laser that is 20 times more stronger than a typical cold laser modality. It has the ability to penetrate deep tissue structures and can deliver a significantly stronger dose in a much shorter treatment time.

How does it work?
Energy (photos) are emitted by the Laser and flood the body's tissue. The process causes the cells to produce increased energy (ATP) which increases cellular activity. The process reduces inflammation (swelling), reduces pain and improves circulation. These changes in cellular activity make it the ideal healing modality.
What does it treat?
Laser therapy is the ideal modality for treating painful injuries that are either acute or chronic in nature. The list includes (but is not limited to):
Musculoskeltal pain
arthritic pain
soft tissue injuries (strains and sprains)
shoulder injuries
back pain and disc pain
sciatic pain
myofascial trigger points
nerve pain
plantar fasciitis
sports injuries
patellar (knee) pain
tennis and golfers elbow
carpal tunnel syndrome
Is it safe?
Yes, Laser therapy can be a safe alternative to drugs and surgery. Our Class IV laser is approved the the FDA and Health Canada.
Does the patient feel anything during treatment?
Yes, there is a soothing warmth as the laser is emitted. Laser thearpy must be administered directly to the skin.
How long is a Laser treatment?
There are different protocols depending on the location and nature of the injury. Laser treatment is performed in a typical 15 minute appointment and the application generally takes 5-10 minutes. The effects continue to last 18-24 hours after treatment is administered.
How many treatments are prescribed?
Treatment depends on the nature of the injury (location and chronicity). It is generally recommended to initially try 6 treatments over a 2-3 week period. Each treatment is cumulative and patients generally see results in 3-5 visits. Maintenance treatment with Laser therapy can be effective with arthritic conditions.
Can it be used in combination with other treatments?
Yes, we often encourage other forms of physical therapy such as chiropractic and registered massage therapy.
How do I know if Laser Therapy is right for me?
We provide a thorough initial visit that includes a detailed history, physical examination and functional testing to diagnose and determine if you are a candidate.
Can Laser therapy be used over surgical metallic implants?
Yes, the laser is effective for post surgical healing (such as hip and knee replacements).
Is Laser Therapy covered by extended medical benefits?
Yes, your laser treatments are provided by a chiropractor and are billed under chiropractic benefits.
How much does it cost?
A single laser treatment is $55. A laser treatment combined with a chiropractic treatment is $75.
